Hey all – Just a quick post today to update you on a couple of things happening at the group, and to advertise a taster session we are hosting on the 27th of July
The school holidays have finally landed! We just wanted to let our members know that we will continue to run weekly over the summer holidays, with the exception of the week commencing the 24th of August, as the majority of the group will be away at Summer Camp!
The Beavers and Cubs will continue to meet on a Monday evening from 6:30pm until 8pm, and Scouts will continue as normal
Speaking of Beavers and Cubs, we are hosting a taster session on the 27th of July from 6:30pm until 8pm!
As numbers have picked up a little for our Beaver section, we are looking at moving back to our usual meeting time and day from October 2026 (Tuesdays from 6:15pm until 7:30pm) – We will confirm with a letter to parents when this is “set in stone.”
To support both the Beavers and Cubs sections, we will be hosting a free taster session on the 27th of July to try and get some more friendly faces into the pack and colony. This Monday evening is open to the public for children aged 6 to 9 years old to see what we get up to at the 61st. The Leaders and Scouts will be running bases throughout the evening, and there will be plenty of volunteers around to ask questions, if you have any!
The event will be at our usual headquarters: 61 Standon Road, Sheffield. S9 1PE
If you’ve wondered what Scouting is all about but haven’t been able to make it down to chat with the team, this Monday evening is the best time to call by! Children must be accompanied by an adult if calling by the event!

The group offer 4 free weeks for potential new members to see how they find things before taking their promise and being invested into the worldwide family of Scouting. The group currently charges £2.50 per week to cover costs and insurances (£125 payable annually).
