We hope everyone is enjoying the long Easter Weekend!
Just a quick few updates for the troop of what we’ve been up to so far this year, and some dates for your calendars for the next few months:
Our first camp of 2023 will be held between the 14th and 16th of April for St. Georges day with the other groups from Don District – Kit lists, letters and any other details have been given out during section meetings already. Leaders contact details for the camp is also on the ‘camp information’ letter!
Following St. George’s Day, we are currently booking the annual troop camp for the group, which will be from the 2nd to the 4th of June 2023 – Letters will be going out for this in the next couple of weeks for members to show interest! This camp is open to all sections and we estimate the cost for the camp will be around £25 for the weekend.
Later in the year, we are currently planning for the groups Summer Camp, which we are looking to run from the 12th to the 19th of August 2023. Details will go out when we have them to allow parents time to save for the costs, with it being for a week. Summer Camp is the highlight of the year for the group and we encourage all members to think about coming along!
There are other events from District and County going on through Spring and Summer, but we will let members know about these during section meetings!
Otherwise, the group have been busy over the winter months working on badges that can be done indoors due to the colder and darker evenings. Every section got their chance to make some pancakes for Shrove Tuesday, and we were lucky enough to have a site tour of the local power station, big ‘thank you’ to Richard for facilitating this!

We are looking forward to getting the members outside more and doing more work out in the local woods and around the headquarters. And last week, the Scouts finally got their first fire lit of 2023.

We look forward to seeing everyone at St. George’s Day!
Yours in Scouting,
Alex – BSL
